OUR FAMILY

Ann and I are very family orientated. We are very close to our two sons, Jeff (to my left in the photo) and Randy (to Ann's right), and their families (shown in the photos below)!

We have 4 grandchildren, the fourth one just arriving at Christmas in 2006, a boy, Joshua Shay, 7lbs, 4 ounces!

The whole family:

Top row: Ann, myself and Ann's sister, Kay:

2nd row: Sara, Randy's wife, Randy, and Jeff (our oldest).
Third row: the grandkids--from lert to right -- Chad and Josh (Randy and Sara's children and Sera and Sean (Jeff's children).

Our younger son, Randy, graduated from Palomar College and went on to Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado to complete his BA degree in education. He came home and got his teaching credential and is a physical education teacher and

track coach at Escondido High School. He met his wife, Sara while teaching. She was a student teacher at the time. They were married in 2002 and had their first son, Chad, in 2004 and their second son, Joshua, Christmas, 2006.

Our older son, Jeff, is a free-lance illustrator working for companies like Gap, Quick Silver and Billibong.  He graduated from Art Center in Pasadena, California with his BA in art. Jeff lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his two children, Sera  (our only grand daughter) born in 1986 and Sean, born in 1992. Ann and I enjoy our children and grandchildren very much!

Both our boys have grown up to be outstanding young men, of whom we are very proud!  They both have strong family values and are very dedicated to their children, which makes us very proud.  Both  have juvinile diabetes (Jeff being diagnosed when he was 16 and Randy when he was 22).  They both are insulin dependent, but handle it as an every day thing--monitoring their diet and blood sugar caerfully and both live very healthy lives--refusing to let this disease distroy them (as it can if not taken seriously)! For this we are greatful and have the utmost respect for their refusal to let this disease get them down.  We have never heard either one ever complain or say "why me"--they just handle it as a part of their lives (although we know it must be hard at times)!

Ann and I have been fortunate in life and we know it!  Having two loving children with great families and being with them often and watching their families grow is one of the best things in life. Grandchildren are a special blessing! Ann says "grandchildren are the best and most expensive thing that ever happens to a person!" OUR FAMILY MAKES OUR LIFE WORTHWHILE!
